19. The Bible Comes Alive 10.28.19

19. I’m going to be jumping around on this one so hang with me here. Im not sure how to structure all of this together. I’m never really sure of anything these days. That’s the fun of my journey with Jesus. It’s fun how I’ve been a Christian and have read the Bible before but it’s never really come alive like this for me. It’s fun getting random visions, messages, lessons and thoughts in my head and being internally driven to find a way to come up with the correct words to use to project them out to an audience that thinks I’m crazy...so I can plant a seed.
It’s having a message in my head and what I consider to be the “upper room of my mind” and knowing what scripture to go to based on hearing from the Lord God with guidance from the Holy Spirit. Just knowing where to go in the Bible to find what I need is amazing. That in itself is showing me and all of you, how the gifts of the Holy Spirit can work. I‘ve read the Bible but I am not really great at knowing the stories or which books to look in for what lessons. I’ve never taken theology classes. I don’t remember and hold onto/comprehend much once all those begats and names I can’t pronounce and cities in foreign places kick in. For years I had only read the Words in Red spoken by Jesus because it was pretty much the only thing I could understand. I thought that was all I needed to know. I used to think that as long as I knew what Jesus said, I was good. Truth is, there are a ton of life lessons we can refer back to that are in the Bible. That book can provide us with the solutions we are looking for in our daily struggles with any issue we are facing. Anger, Jealousy, Hatred, Murder, All Sin, Forgiveness, Acceptance, Love, Kindness, Rebirth, it’s all in there, you just have to look for it.
Proverbs 2:6
6 For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding
Proverbs 18:15
15 The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge
Isaiah 11:2
2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
I have never been excellent in English class. I can read a story and answer the questions at the end, but if I have to wait a few days and refer back, I have a hard time. I am the queen of run on sentences. I can’t diagram a sentence for crap. I’ll watch a movie or read a book and know if I liked it or not, and know the basic plot but I’m not good with remembering details, unless it’s something I’m passionate about. I’m terrible with remembering names and faces so I apologize in advance for not knowing who you are when you say hi, but I’m always glad you do!
Nash’s dad always laughs at me because I think movies are the same based on how little I remember of the story. The other day we were arguing about who was in Highlander and Braveheart and to me they were both Mel Gibson. I’m like “it’s the same guy just like it’s the same movie!” (I know it’s not but based on the little snapshot my mind creates, it is). I see the one scene where the guy with the hair is next to the other guy and the guy puts his hand up and yells and the crowd gets all excited. Same movie. So then I go on a mini rant and I’m like Gremlins and Critters...same movie. Little green thing goes “raaaahhh” same movie. Bill and Ted and Wayne’s world. Guy with dark hair has a friend who’s a guy with light hair and they tell jokes, have a punch line, to me Mike Myers plays all 4 people...same movie. Clueless and Mean girls..same movie. Teenage angst, plaid skirts and thigh high panty hose things. Same movie. The original IT and Stand By Me...same movie. Four kids doing stuff they shouldn’t be doing so bad stuff happens. Same movie to me. Star Wars and StarTrek, same movie. People in space looking all weird and doing stuff. Same movie. That is how little I remember when it comes to referring back to things. So for me to be able to go to scriptures and put stories together and write. It’s pretty incredible. I asked God once “Why me?” and He said “Because you’re the one who will take the mirror off the wall”. (Go back and read that one it’s a good one that’s kind of why they’re numbered to refer back to but I can’t remember which number it is, it’s single digits though). He said you’re juvenile in your own minds understanding of the word which means you will rely entirely on Me for guidance and understanding. Mic Drop Lord...touché.
Luke 22:26 New King James Version (NKJV)
26 But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves.
James 1:5 New King James Version (NKJV)
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Proverbs 1:7 New King James Version (NKJV)
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
He revealed to me that there are many false religions that people have been tricked into thinking they are the “same movie” as Jesus. That as long as you believe in being more good than evil that you’ll end up in a heaven no matter what religion is the right one in the end. That’s just not true. I wish it was and I thought for a long time that as long as a person was a good person that they would be saved. I’m sorry to now be that person to say that it’s just not that way. I’m not going to judge anyone, I’m not here for that or to offend my friends with different beliefs. I love you all and encourage you all to find your own path and your own way in this life on earth. But I can’t sit here and say anything other than Jesus is the only way to eternal life and salvation after this earthly life ends. It’s what I was put here to do.
John 14:6 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 1:14 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Word Becomes Flesh
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Isaiah 45:6 New King James Version (NKJV)
6 That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting. That there is none besides Me.
I am the Lord, and there is no other;
The more you study and read the word or listen to videos with the word the better off you’ll be. The Lord God will bring it out of you when you need it, even if you don’t understand it. You may think that because you don’t remember or recall what you just listened to or read that it was worthless or not worth your time. If you think “I can’t remember any of that” or “I just don’t get it.” Don’t be discouraged. I can promise you, that if you put it in your mind any way you can, the Holy Spirit will bring it out of you when you need it. It’s in there and the enemy wants you to be frustrated and think you’ve failed. The enemy wants you to give up thinking it’s too hard or you won’t remember all of it. Keep trying! When you try to read the Bible and study the word and you get tired or can’t focus, don’t be frustrated. You’re being attacked for trying to get closer to the Lord. You’re learning, don’t quit, even if you can’t remember what you just read. You can read it again if you have to but don’t beat yourself up over it. Move on, it’s in there, you got it, keep going, keep pushing.
I feel like I’m being led to bring a spin on the word for the new generation. To bring them into the awareness of the majesty of the Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ our Savior and the Holy Spirit. To show everyone that they need to look right in front of them before it’s too late. To show what repentance and deliverance can do for your soul. To show that you too are called to Christ.
What I feel led to say is that generations ago the stories of Jesus were so alive when they were told. People actually experienced Jesus first hand and told their friends and neighbors about their amazing experiences. Generation after generation passed away but stories could still be told in families about their great, great, great, great grandmother who saw Jesus and was healed by touching the hem of his garment. These people were so excited to share the word and tell the history of Jesus Christ. Multiple books were written and published into the Bible that we know as our book and hand out today. Those stories were lived here on earth. That was what went “viral” at that time.
These were real stories of miracles that were worked first hand. People set free from bondage in the synagogues. Families restored by healing. The love of the Lord God Almighty for his people as a walking embodiment here on earth. The death and resurrection of Jesus. The majesty and wonder of it all. However, as time has passed and generations have faded away, we have lost our luster in telling the history of Jesus. We have lost the excitement, the passion, we have become so bogged down with demonic influences that have covered this earth that we are slowly losing the ability to share personal experiences about the way Jesus has changed our lives. Generation after generation more and more are slipping away from Jesus. Everyone is so quick to look for advice with their friends, co workers, to look to horoscopes, fortune tellers, looking everywhere but where they should look. Look to scripture, look to Jesus, look to the Bible. Stop spreading gossip at the lunch tables and start spreading the word, showing kindness and sharing stories of the wonderful things that the good Lord has done for you.
I was shown another vision of children in a cafeteria and they were all lined up on one side of the long table that spanned the entire length of the cafeteria. The first child was given a message into his ear by Jesus. The message was simply “I love you all”. They were playing the telephone game. The first few kids toward Jesus end of the table had all heard His words out loud. They were certain of the correct words and were so excited to pass the message on to be heard exactly the same way it was intended. The farther we got from Jesus the harder it was for the children to not confuse the words. They would hear the sentence from their neighbor and it may have sounded a little funny to them due to a different accent or way of saying a word, so a word changes and they lose their certainty, they aren’t sure if what they are hearing is correct but they are too far away from Jesus to know what was actually said. They would have to disrupt the calm quiet line and yell for Jesus to get clarification. So the child stays quiet surrounded by neighbors who are also not sure what was said but they want to blend in and don’t want to create the disruption to ask for clarification. They lose the excitement and the atmosphere becomes more solemn and insecure. As the line goes on and we get farther and farther away from Jesus a word gets changed here or a word gets changed there. By the time the message gets to the other end of the cafeteria the message had changed to “I need a U haul”. Jesus quickly corrected the children at the end and reminded them that even if they were given wrong words or wrong direction by someone suggesting it was Jesus or in the name of Jesus that if they seek Him, if they have the boldness to stand up and step out of the crowd to seek him, if they can be bold in asking for help, he will absolutely reveal the correct message to them. He will always reveal the truth from the lies. Be bold enough to step out of the norm and seek Him. He will show you in a way you’ll know it’s Him.
He reminded me that at any time, if any of those children would have called out to him and said “Jesus” loud enough for Him to know that He was being called, that he would have walked over and answered their questions. He would have said “I love you all” and everyone around that child would receive the clarification they needed and have their excitement and confidence renewed in the Truth spoken from Christ.
I asked the Lord what message goes with this vision and it was answered back to me Galatians 5 and James 1. I’ll put a few verses here but you should read the books they’re short ones. I use the Bible Gateway app or website the NKJV.
Galatians 5 New King James Version (NKJV)
Galatians 5:4-5
4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
Love Fulfills the Law
7 You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? 8 This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. 9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump. 10 I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is.
13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!
James 1:6-18
6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. 9 Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, 10 but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away. 11 For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits. 12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

258. Is Jesus Enough?

Is Jesus enough for you? What if we never arrive? What if like Moses you wander in the desert for years only to have the Joshua generation be the one to enter the promised land? The land that was originally promised to Abraham 42 generations prior. 42 generations it took to fulfill that promise.  What if you’re generation 37, or 16, or 5 or 41. What if your family is this close to the breakthrough of the promised land that you’ve been praying for, and you give up now? What if you take the bait of the enemy and quit before you reach the finish line? Or worse yet, you give up, erase the efforts of every generation before you, and your kids or grandkids never meet Jesus at all.  This is your reminder…don’t fall for it. Same evil tactics different worldly package. All designed to kill, steal and destroy.  Satan doesn’t have to take your life if he can take your peace, wrap you in groundhog’s days, and have you spread that woe is me, lack of joy under a “Christian” label, like...

244. Out of the Wilderness

The Lord is calling you. He's calling you deeper. He's calling you higher. He's calling you to become more of His and less of what this world calls "Christian" and gets away with. He's calling you, to gather all the broken pieces of the past and He is leading you, to help you put them back together again.  This morning during worship the Lord led me to an open field. There was a half broken down stage like the aftermath of a weekend music festival. I was walking the disheveled grounds kicking through trash and broken down campsites. So much mess left behind without a care or thought in the world. Our pasts can feel the same. So much junk, so much carnage, so much chaos left behind.  I grabbed a large trash bag and began cleaning. As I continued to gather things up, the ground was transforming. The season was shifting. The air felt lighter, the leaves in the surrounding trees began to change and a fresh autumn breeze began to blow through the field. As the la...

250. Stay North Ash

Testimony time! Change is hard for some people, especially during the holidays. While many others handle change with ease, I tend to handle it like a cat thrown in a bathtub. Settling in here hasn’t been much different. So much change.  In many areas it’s been a blessing and the perfect fit, but I’d be lying if I said being this far away from Leah wasn’t the hardest thing I’ve ever done. While she’s amazingly independent, I always thought she’d be away at college before I couldn’t just stop by if she ever needed me for anything.   This has led to me questioning the Lord on a lot of things, and led to me wondering if us moving to Morgantown would be a good fit for the next season the Lord has coming up over the horizon.   How many of you have experienced something similar? You pray, the Lord answers, you obey, then you’re in it. You’re smack dab in the middle of what you prayed for and it ends up challenging you to grow in ways you never thought possible.  You ...
